The following organizations have resources and programs that can be used at anytime to support Olympic and Paralympic education activities.
Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) – VANOC was established on September 30, 2003. The Committee’s mandate is to support and promote the development of sport in Canada by planning, organizing, financing and staging the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. VANOC is also responsible for overseeing the Vancouver 2010 Education Program and maintains /EDU, Canada’s school portal for the 2010 educational resources.
Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) - The COC is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence. It is responsible for all aspects of Canada's involvement in the Olympic Movement, including Canada's participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games and a wide variety of cultural and educational programs that promote the Olympic Movement in Canada.
Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) - The CPC delivers programs that strengthen the Paralympic Movement in Canada, including sending Canadian teams to the Paralympic Games. The CPC empowers persons with physical disabilities, through sport, at all levels.
International Olympic Committee (IOC) – The mission of the IOC is to promote Olympism throughout the world and to lead the Olympic Movement. In addition to ensuring the regular staging of Olympic Games, the IOC’s mandate includes supporting the promotion of ethics in sport and the education of youth through sport. The IOC focuses on promoting universal values such as fair play and respect.
International Paralympic Committee - The IPC is committed to enabling Paralympic athletes to achieve sporting excellence and to developing sport opportunities for all persons with a disability from the beginner to elite level. In addition, the IPC aims to promote the Paralympic values, which include courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
2010 Legacies Now - 2010 Legacies Now is a not-for-profit society committed to building a stronger British Columbia and creating sustainable legacies that will benefit all British Columbians as a result of hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
ActNow BC - ActNow BC is a health and wellness initiative launched by the British Columbia Provincial Government in March 2005. ActNow BC promotes healthy living and its goal is to make British Columbia the healthiest jurisdiction to host an Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
