Scheduled to take place November 2 – 6, 2009, Paralympic School Week brings the spirit and the values of the Paralympic Movement – human interdependence, equity and fairness – to schools in all of Canada’s 365 school districts. During Paralympic School Week, schools have the chance to recognize and celebrate wide-ranging examples of the achievements and successes of people with disabilities engaged in sport, culture or sustainability.
Celebrating Paralympic School Week in Your School, a guide developed by educators for educators, has suggestions for planning school-wide and curriculum-based activities for a range of grades and subject areas. The guide also identifies useful links and resources to help you and your students organize your own Paralympic School Week. Interested in offering your class the opportunity to witness the Paralympic spirit in action by attending a Paralympic Games event? VANOC’s Ticket to Inspiration program provides tickets to students for $5, plus bus transportation subsidies. Check the VANOC resources for Ticket to Inspiration program information. |
Additional Paralympic educational resources are available on this disc in the Canadian Paralympic Committee and International Paralympic Committee sections.
