IOC Teaching Values

Focusing on three universal values of excellence, friendship and respect, the IOC has developed a strategy to promote the Olympic values and encourage young people to practise sport.

The teaching manual was written by Deanna Binder, a leading expert on Olympic education, and is intended as a reference for all teachers and educators looking to promote the values of Olympism. The manual encourages teachers to use the symbols (rings, torch and medals) and Olympic stories as part of a stimulating interactive educational program. It respects the universality of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements by offering tools that teachers all over the world can use.

The British Columbia Ministry of Education gratefully acknowledges the International Olympic Committee for allowing the inclusion of their educational resources on this DVD.
