Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relays
The Olympic Flame travelled by land, air and water during its 106-day journey as it visited more than 1,000 communities in our huge and diverse country. Over 90 per cent of Canadians were within an hour’s drive and were able to share in the great moments of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay.
The 10-day, 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay gave many Canadians, young and old, a chance to discover the unique and inspiring stories of Paralympians and other Canadians who defy the odds. The 2010 Winter Games were Canada’s Games and the Paralympic Torch Relay was an important part of bringing the Games to Canada.
Many schools across the country participated in the ceremonies celebrating the passing of the torch in their community.
