TakingITGlobal

TakingITGlobal (TIG) is the world’s largest online community for youth interested in global issues and creating positive change. TIG’s simple guiding principle of “Inspire. Inform. Involve.” has allowed TIG to enable youth leaders from around the world to make an impact on their communities. Inspiration from a global community of their peers builds self-confidence. Information provided by tools and resources accelerates their transformation into better agents of change. Involvement through opportunities enables their capacity as active citizens. The vision is to have youth everywhere actively engaged and connected in shaping a more inclusive, peaceful and sustainable world.

In 2008, the BC Ministry of Education and TakingITGlobal agreed to collaborate on the promotion of the Sharing the Dream webcast series. TIG became the online discussion space for students from around the world to talk about the items on the webcasts and, more broadly, the role that sport and the 2010 Games can play in the promotion of global citizenship. With a large international membership and their experience in using the power of social networking to promote dialogue and understanding between youth, TIG was seen as the ideal partner to help students and teachers discuss the webcast themes in an online “virtual classroom.”
